A director of degenhartSHEDD, Martyn Shedd is an internationally trained and highly experienced Urban Designer with more than 25 years experience in the United States and Australia.

Throughout this time, Martyn has acquired developer focused design and delivery experience at a macro and micro level and has a proven record in generating increased profits and successful project outcomes.

Martyn has contributed and played a key role on a variety of developments that have helped shape the Gold Coast, including significant projects for The Raptis Group and the project management of Lend Leases’ $1 billion Varsity Lakes project.

Martyn’s experience, architectural flair and attention to detail is evident through his conceptual design for projects ranging from affordable housing, international hotels, urban villages to resort communities. The execution and success of these projects has included product research, design, builder liaison, cost planning, preliminary programming, local authority negotiations, health and safety, customer service and commercial assessment.

Professional highlights and skills include:

  • Up until late 2010, Martyn helped plan the award winning Varsity Lakes project during his 10 year career at Lend Lease. Martyn held roles as a Principal Designer, Residential Development Manager and as the Project Manager.
  • For innovative developer supplied housing solutions, including contract builder negotiations and construction supervision, Martyn managed built form processes and teams to meet budget and time constraints.
  • Working with builders to realise design outcomes for challenging sites, secured land sales contracts and increased sales rates.
  • Negotiating with local authorities on medium density developments in green field locations resulting in increased revenue of up to 38% per sqm. Monitored design outcomes to ensure built form results meet company objectives for green field housing and town centres.
  • Management of the design and delivery of innovative urban housing in a range of freehold lot sizes from 125 sqm to 300 sqm.

Martyn’s wealth of experience and continued passion for urban design helps bring degenhartSHEDD’s vision – to deliver high quality, comprehensive and flexible solutions to meet customer needs – to fruition.
